"Alaska Home Companion—Willow"
January 9, 2016

On Saturday evening, January 9, 2016, the Valley Arts Alliance produced the Season 4 Willow episode of Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show!, a rendition of a live radio broadcast from the golden age of Alaskan radio, with skits, music, and dance acts, similar to the popular Prairie Home Companion radio show on NPR.

Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show! features interesting stories by Alaskans about the best, the worst, and the silliest of everyday living in Alaska. The Season 4 premier episode featured the Roving Reporter, Mom and Louie, Between 2 Berms, as well as news from Lake Willowa and Mukluk Radio.

Featured guests introduced by Randi Perlman were the Alaska Polka Chips, consisting of Marge Ford and Patti Gersich; the Borealis Dancers, consisting of Gini Bitzen, Veronica Farnsworth, Georgie Hollander, and Suzanne Oliveri; Skip Davenport; Dave Glenn; Pam Huyck; Terry Koch; Niki Pease; Hillary Saffran; John and Joe Stroup; and Carmen Summerfield.

The Production Crew included Doyle & Debi Holmes; Eric Summerfield: and Kathi VanZant.

This Season 4 Willow episode was “sponsored” by Grasshopper Aviation, Perfect Joints, and a variety of old-time Alaskan merchants.

This Season 4 Sutton episode of Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show! was held in the beautiful Willow Community Center in Willow. We would like to give a special thank you to the members of the Willow Library Association for all their help!
