"Alaska Home Companion—Sutton"
November 8, 2014

On Saturday evening, November 8, 2014, the Valley Arts Alliance produced the Season 3 Sutton premier episode of Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show!, a rendition of a live radio broadcast from the golden age of Alaskan radio, with skits, music, and dance acts, similar to the popular Prairie Home Companion radio show on NPR.

Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show! features interesting stories by Alaskans about the best, the worst, and the silliest of everyday living in Alaska. The Season 3 premier episode featured Guy d’North, MooseJaw, and the Sterling Silver Financial Advisor, as well as news from Lake Willowa, and Mukluk Radio.

Featured guests introduced by Randi Perlman were the Borealis Dancers, consisting of Veronica Farnsworth, Georgie Hollander, Ashlie Lehman, Cindy Montgomery, Suzanne Olivieri, and Heather Pelletier; Grover Neely; Dave Norman; Randi Olson; Niki Pease; Randy Robinson; Hilary Saffran; A.J. Seims; Scott Sterling; Kim Strickland; John and Joe Stroup; Carmen Summerfield; Kathi VanZant; Pat Wake and Sean Renard-Wake; and Lynne Woods.

The Production Crew included Nancy Bertels; Terry Koch; Eric Summerfield; and Mike Chmielewski of KVRF 89.5FM.

The Season 3 Sutton premier episode was “sponsored” by Moose—the Movie, Ptarmageddon, and a variety of old-time Alaskan merchants.

The Season 3 Sutton premier episode of Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show! was held in the beautiful Sutton Public Library and Community Resource Center in Sutton, and was broadcast live by Radio Free Palmer on 89.5 FM, and is available on their website. The Season 3 Sutton premier episode was performed before a packed crowd—another example of bringing our community together through the arts!
