VAA Art Pavilion
at the Alaska State Fair

For the fourth consecutive year, the Valley Arts Alliance hosted the Art Pavilion at the 2010 Alaska State Fair, from Aug. 26 to Sept. 6. This year, the Art Pavilion was located in the Colony Theatre, also known as the Colony Church, by the Red Gate.

As in previous years, the Art Pavilion featured original art, and only original art, including painting, photography, pottery, and fiber and metal art. As a special treat this year, all the entries from the 2010 Dolls on Parade event were on display, as well as numerous metal sculptures from the 2010 Art on Fire event.

Local artists were available daily to answer questions about their art and to give demonstrations, and in the evenings, local musicians performed, contributing to the soothing and relaxing atmosphere.

The Art Pavilion continues to be a quiet oasis in the midst of a hectic fair.
